Never Give Up On Your Dream
For those of you who did not attend this last quarterly, you missed out on an incredible message by an incredible man. Pastor Rick Godwin, my mentor and friend, spoke at length on the challenges we will surely face on the path to securing our dreams.
I first attended one of Rick’s services back in 2003, at a time when Mindi and I were going through some very difficult times. We were bankrupt and in limbo of what the next chapter or our life was to look like. I needed some direction and inspiration.
Fortunately, it was at one of the first few services we attended that Rick shared his story of starting all over, from scratch at the age of 42. He and his wife Cindi, sold their home and belongings and moved from Savanah Georgia and moved to San Antonio to start a church. Their first gatherings were in a hotel room.
I’m hearing this at the age of 42 amongst a congregation of over 4,000 members and thinking, “If Rick can start over at 42, then so can I.” It was also during this message that I instantly knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to teach the masses, starting with my community and then my colleagues. I’m not really sure why it was so absolutely clear at that moment, but I do believe it is exactly what God had as my purpose, but I give Rick a ton of credit for inspiring me with hope. Just 7 years later Rick and his congregation would move into one of the largest churches in San Antonio.
His message of never giving up on your dream is empowering, entertaining and inspirational. Our members who experienced this live asked for us to share it so they could pass it on. I know you will also enjoy this. Please share it with your team and family.
