MD Gains Unthinkable Success By ‘Being Coachable’

I still remember one of my first emails to Angel from when I first joined FPC. I frantically typed, “Angel, I just spent $121K! I need some mindset juice, quick!” I was on week 3 in the modules and I tried to explain some of my anxiety to him: “My office is not as nice as Dr. Webb’s, “I don’t have a staff, will I be negatively judged for charging $6K – $7K? Am I really going to be able to do three pre-education events per month? What if I don’t have raving reviews? Will I be able to handle the criticism?”

It is eye-opening to revisit some of the mindset challenges I encountered when I first embarked on this journey.  I honestly didn’t see how generating $40K/ month was possible, but I had faith, and decided to keep plugging away.

For those who do not know my story, I was traditionally trained as an internal medicine physician, and worked in the hospital for many years. I did very well but sold my practice in 2013 and decided to go into a holistic wellness practice. I created a virtual program, wrote a book, and earned just enough to sustain my lifestyle, but it wasn’t enough to pay the bills.

After some of my investments went south, along with the monthly income they provided, it became crystal clear that I had to quickly find a way for my wellness business to support myself and my family.

When I decided to open my office, I knew I would need help and I got in touch with FPC. Having previously built three successful businesses, I was well aware of the work this would require and was reluctant to commit to the efforts necessary to go at it again.

Based on my SWAT analysis, Dr. Webb stated that perhaps it would not be a good fit due to both my current financial position (I was broke) and lack of commitment. In fact, I was not accepted into the program following the discovery day I attended. Dr. Webb did commit to getting me help by getting me on a strategy call with him along with some additional coaching from the team.

I took this as a challenge and became determined to make it happen. In my mind, there was no other option. After my calls with Dr. Webb and Dr. Botts, I decided to take extreme ownership. I wanted in the FPC program now, so I did what any reasonable “financially broke” person would do. I sent them my first payment with the last bit of funds I had stashed away. My intention was simply to express my commitment. It worked!

Oh crap! Now I really had no choice but to make this work.

I put my head down and did everything I was told. My wife Kashima and I focused on the modules, followed instructions and experienced some success.  We remained diligent, we studied, and we stayed on the webinars. I sought out, embraced, and applied any and every little nugget of advice that I could get.

Early on, I really struggled with the emotional connection. I had countless coaching calls with Trevor, Ky and Nicole trying to figure out how I could better connect. I was on numerous webinars and attended all of the quarterly meetings. I was determined to break through any and all barriers. With persistence, we were finally able to achieve our financial goals.

I am a firm believer that if you focus and work at something hard enough, you will succeed. I stayed centered on the FPC model and resisted all the “shiny objects” (hormone replacement, IV therapies, etc.) that I wanted to add to my practice. Instead, I offered only three packages, which we have been refining over the course of about two and a half years. These last few months we’ve been averaging in the $100K/ month range, which I had never dreamt possible. Remember, I started FPC at ground zero and totally broke. We celebrated our “Best Month Ever” in January 2020, where we more than hit $173,747.29!

A lot of people ask me, “What do you feel made the difference, what’s the real secret sauce?” My response is always the same; “When is the last time you spoke with your coach?”

I’m frequently shocked to hear that someone is not engaging in regular coaching calls. After all the time, effort, and money invested into my business, you can bet that I will absolutely take advantage of every opportunity available to help me succeed, and regular meetings with my coach are a major part of that. They will reliably steer you in the right direction.

Be coachable. We talk about this with all of our practice members. If you are coachable and you put in the work, you will get results.

Don’t try to re-create the system. The work is already laid out for you. We have such a short time on this earth and that’s why I’m enormously grateful that FPC has eliminated the stress of trying to figure it all out on my own.

Lastly, HAVE FUN DOING IT! Enjoy the gift of having an impact on enhancing and changing people’s lives.

So, are you ready for a success story of your own?

If you are, I have good news! We can get you results like this. It won’t be easy, nor will it happen overnight, but I’ve seen it happen so many times that I can tell you that it’s possible.
You’ve got to be hungry, driven, up for the work, listen more than you talk, complete more than complain, implement plans more than you announce them, and show up daily with a beginner’s mind. If you’re ready, it’s time to get to work!
